Local government officials are busy, busy working on budgets for fiscal 2023-24. Bladen County workshops are planned for Tuesday, May 16 and the following Tuesday (May 23). Both meetings begin at 6 p.m. on the lower level of the courthouse and are open to the public. The deadline for approving new budgets for the coming year is July 1.

Every now and then, I will hear someone ask about the depth of White Lake … I stumbled across the info, quoting now … “White Lake is a shallow, 1,068 acre Carolina Bay lake in the Cape Fear River basin. Maximum depth (according to this info) is approximately nine (9) feet.” And, I might add, it is a great vacation spot … and has been for years…
