A part of Bladenboro looks like a ‘bomb dropped’ … but all planned as a new downtown will eventually emerge … soon, like months away … There is a plan … I think back to years ago when Bladenboro, Clarkton, Dublin and other small towns were shopping places … a good variety, mostly locally own businesses … but over the years, chain stores moved in and it was get bigger or get out … and many local businesses exited the scene … Even if ‘box stores’ did not move into all small towns, they are close by … tough competition for ‘mom and pop’ operations.
Thank the good Lord above, there are some good people among us … Purchased fuel for auto recently … A short time later, received a call from my bank that I had left my credit card at the site … Within minutes, embarrassed, I returned, was asked for identification, and returned card where it should be … Thanks to all who I met and those behind the scene…
If everyone who has responded on social media to updates at White Lake returns to witness it all, White Lake will be a busy place this season … and after a year like last year, that’s good news…
