Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Thoughts While ShavingHoliday shopping is underway.  Local merchants have stocked up to compete with whoever.

NCDOT officials are busy, attempting to restore roadways in Bladen and across the state.  Latest memo indicates it may take months to open some, while others will be opened soon.  One huge problem is the lack of tile/pipe.  No lack of effort by the local NCDOT and their contractors.

Be aware of a Special Weather statement for today in Bladen:  The North Carolina Forest Service is cautioning residents of increased fire danger.  Minimum relative humidity of 19 to 25 percent this afternoon, combined with recent dry weather will allow any fire to quickly grow out of control.

Shriner Fish Fry is set for tomorrow in Bladen.  Enjoy a delicious fish plate and help a crippled child.

Congratulations to Dr. Delilah Blanks and Billy Ray Pait, both retiring commissioners.  Both were presented with Long Leaf Pine Award.  Both have served for many years.  Jimmie Smith and Wayne Edge will be departing as well.

4 new commissioners will be sworn in at the first meeting in December.

100 years ago, we only needed 3 commissioners.  They were:

A.L. Tatum

E.J. Cox

R. S. Cromartie

50 years ago, (1966) we needed 5 Board members.  They included:

J.S. Singletary

Edd Nye

F.L. Tatum

B.E. Carroll

Carl S. Suggs

Today, we need 9?

BladenOnline had another successful week.  118,164 pages viewed and 22,840 visits.  Interesting, years ago newspapers spoke often about their circulation.  Seldom hear about numbers today.  We are proud of what we are doing and how it is being received.  THANKS.
