A reminder from the folks at Bladen County Solid Waste … Thanksgiving schedule. All convenience sites will be closed Thursday, in observance of the holiday. Normal operations resume Friday. And, the transfer station will be closed both days. Normal operations resume Monday, November 30.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, a different type holiday due to the virus, still much to be thankful for. We often think of what we don’t have, so much change in the past 10 months … but if we stop and think … we are still a blessed nation and people, lest we forget.
Plan to travel this weekend? Best of luck … we plan to anchor down … Hope to see immediate family, in and out. If you get bored, there is always the Christmas Tree that needs to be ‘put up’, decorated, etc. … no complaints from this corner…
Guess we all complain about something, just normal … but saw where turkeys were on sale for 29, maybe 39 cents per pound. How in the world can you grow a turkey, take it to be processed, package and delivered to the supermarket and sell for such a low price … Maybe a ‘price leader’, but goodness gracious, don’t believe you can make much money like that … Good deal for consumers … if you like turkey…
Remember when mom or dad would place a chicken under a basket a few days prior in preparation for a meal? Don’t see much of than any more.
I am looking forward to the holidays and a new year … and a new beginning, complete with medication to hopefully eliminate COVID-19.
