Yesterday’s high temp … a cool 57 degrees … Overnight low … chilly … in the low 40s … Sunny today with a high in the low 70s … near 72. Increasing clouds tonight with a low around 52.

Tuesday … A slight chance of showers before 1 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 71 … chance of precipitation … 20%. Next best chance of rain … Thursday (Thanksgiving Day) … Mostly cloudy with a high in the low 70s and a 50% chance of precipitation … 50% chance Thursday night and a 30% chance on Friday…

For the fourth time in five years, La Nina is expected to be a factor in this winter’s weather and climate across North and South Carolina … Two of the past three La Nina winters brought below normal rainfall across the coastal Carolinas … Normally we see 5 to 11 inches of rain across the area … but rainfall during the La Nina winters of 2021-2022 and 2022 and 2023 ran about 25 percent below normal … and given the drought already in place over the coastal Carolinas, an outbreak of increased chances for below normal rainfall is concerning and could lead to increasing severity of drought over the next several months…

Every now and then I think about new auto dealerships, farm equipment dealers … and before then … local merchants selling mules and horses … Old folks would probably say … Just have to learn to get along with what we have…

When we get down-a-little … think about our friends in western NC … Some areas wiped out … With Thanksgiving approaching … Let’s just give thanks for what we have…
