Robert Hester, Founder of BladenOnline.comThe Bladenboro Class of ’56 is preparing, planning a class reunion … Details soon … I have been thinking about when we entered school in Bladenboro. One of our first grade teachers was Miss Knott, an old maid, strict, fair … Wanted the class to take a nap after lunch … using newspapers spread over an oil based wooden floor … Not my thing … didn’t take a nap at home and not a great deal of interest in the first grade … Miss Knott prevailed … in my case…

Bladenboro Class of ’56 will have a get-together on Thursday, November 10th at 1 p.m. … More info upcoming … About 100 began the high school adventure in 1952 … about 50 graduated in ’56, and now down to 20 or 30…

One of the top songs of the time was “Straighten Up and Fly Right’, I do not remember … Dean Martin and several others recorded … “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Very appropriate for today … and I do remember…

It’s cold outside this morning … 39 degrees at 5 a.m.

Fog in the forecast early today, then sunny, with a high near 62 and windy, gusts as high as 15 mph. Patchy frost tonight, otherwise, clear, with a low around 38. Thursday, areas of frost early, then sunny with a high near 67. Highs in the 70s later this week.

NY Yankees defeated Cleveland last night, winning the best-of-5 series, 3-2, and advancing in MLB playoffs.

Stock market posted substantial gains 2 days in a row … Oh yes, voting begins Thursday … I hope you vote … Let your conscience be your guide…

Graduation thoughts…

“The unfortunate, yet truly exciting thing about your life, is that there is no core curriculum. The entire place is an elective.” Jon Stewart

“If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.” Frank A. Clark

“Every year, many, many stupid people graduate from college. And, if they can do it, so can you.” John Green
