A ride through Bladen County indicates that a considerable amount of harvesting of crops has been completed … Still beans and cotton in some fields … and many cotton fields that have not been harvested are beautiful … reminds me of the old expression … ‘White as Cotton’ … Large harvesters do the jobs locals performed years ago … corn, tobacco, peanuts, cotton and beans, berries, maybe others. Today, youngsters have more time to play sports and senior citizens have more time to rock on the front porch … just the facts of life … We are moving on…
