Thoughts While Shaving For October 11

Happy Columbus Day … Today is a holiday but few observe with a day off … Columbus Day is observed on the second Monday of October every year. The day celebrates explorer Christopher Columbus’ landing in the New World on October 12, 1492. Actually the explorers landed in San Salvador, also known as Watling Island, and is now a part of the Bahamas … For most, just another Monday…

NFL action yesterday, Carolina Panthers lost to Philadelphia … The Eagles scored late to win … by a 21-18 score … Monday night game … Colts (1-3) at Ravens (3-1) Game time 8:15 p.m.

Anyone remember Ed Sutton? He was THE drivers license examiner in Bladen County for many years. I met him as a 16 year old in the mid 50s. I think he enjoyed his work but enjoyed seeing if he could cause you to be, for the lack of a better word … scared while attempting to secure your drivers license … He issued many, many licenses’ and most had a tale to tell about Mr. Sutton … He was harmless, but left a lasting memory for many…

Nearly 50% of Bladen County residents have received at least one shot for the COVID-19 vaccine … Actually 49% was the last number I saw … I have had 3 shots and still doing well…

Hope your weekend was good … most ready to begin a new week…

Anyone remember shooting marbles, playing hop-scotch, monopoly? Inexpensive games, anything to keep youngsters minds’ occupied…

“May your coffee be strong and your Monday be productive.”

“Monday is the perfect day to correct last week’s mistakes.”

“Monday is one of my favorite days of the week. My 7th favorite.”
