Thoughts While ShavingElection day is drawing near, just 22 days before Tuesday, November 8. Early voting actually begins this Thursday. One other reminder, the final date for registering to vote is Wednesday, October 19.

It has been a very long election process, but the end is in sight.

By all means, VOTE, for the candidates of your choice in this election. Ballots for every precinct in the county are available, online at the Bladen County Board of Election website. Be prepared.

Over 99% of Four County EMC members, in Bladen County, now have electricity restored. According to their website, only 56 remain out of 10,755.

The Duke Power website reports “some outages in this area may have been impacted by flood waters. Estimated restoration times will be established as soon as flooded areas can be assessed.”

Same likely true for Four County.

Every day, the situation is improving, all be it slowly, following Hurricane Mathew’s visit just over a week ago.

A couple of reminders, there are still roadway detours, and will be in some instances for sometime and the other reminder is, con artist are alive and moving around. KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH. When in doubt or approached by folks using high pressure tactics, call law enforcement. 911.

The cost estimates for Hurricane Mathew will be astronomical. Pray for all, including supporters attempting to provide aid to the victims. Many churches are involved.
