Bladen County Commissioners deserve a ‘pat on the back’ for their efforts to assist Kelly area residents who were devastated during a recent storm that caused their area to be flooded. Progress is being made, thanks …. not just to Commissioners, but area residents as well.

Impeachment chatter has triggered verbiage to distract and confuse the public on social media, both sides. SAD….

Snopes is one source that proclaims itself as the Daily Debunker. Not sure how truthful any site is now, but interesting reading.

Stock Market dropped big-time yesterday, for retirees, not good….

Remember Ben McDonald, a former WECT news man who signed off often with ‘A tip of my old and battered homburg’. I offer a tip of my ‘old and battered homburg’ to Bladen County Commissioners for their efforts in Kelly.

Remember other WECT personalities? Bob West, the Esso Reporter, Jim Burns, Ken Murphy and so many more. WECT began telecasting in 1954, 65 years ago, thanks to the Cameron family. Remember the tower being built near Singletary Lake and more recently, being ‘torn down’.

One more bit of history, WBLA-AM also went on the air about the same time … 1954 if my memory is correct. In 1960, I had the pleasure of becoming a member of the staff … along with Rudy Hickman, Norgie Hester and Tommy Covington. Mr. Chatham Clark was the man in charge and Mrs. Daphne Butler was secretary … .and there were many others who worked part-time over the years. Sadly, Mr. Clark, Mrs. Butler, Rudy and Tommy are all deceased…

Gonna be a hot day this day. High today expected to be 98 degrees … heat index as high as 101. Friday, high near 94 … And on Saturday, high temp 76 … Sunday’s high near 82.

May all your troubles last as long as your New Year’s resolutions.

“The only way God can show us he’s in control is to put us in situations we can’t control.” Pastor Steven Furtick

Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you’re waiting.
