Thoughts While ShavingEarly reports this morning indicate Hurricane Mathew is still very dangerous and headed our way, however, chances of a direct hit in our area have lessoned slightly, due to weather conditions that may push the storm further east than originally thought, as it approaches the coast of  North Carolina.

Late reports indicate a 50 percent chance the storm will reach our area about 2 a.m. Sunday, with wind speeds in the range of 100 MPH and 2 to 5 inches of rain.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

The two Vice-Presidential candidates had a difficult task to support those at the top of the ticket in their debate last night.  I remembered a quote in 1961 from Newton Minow, a former FCC Chairman describing the future of TV before a group of TV executives, “I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland.”  Maybe he had in mind such events as a vice-presidential debate.

With all the attention on the presidential political contest, a reminder there are other contests from the local courthouse to the State House as well as the White House.
