Thoughts While Shaving for October 9

Yesterday’s news from White Lake … so sad. Actually drove by shortly before the accident and back by on the way home. Saw numerous blue lights and red lights, no idea someone had lost their life. … Sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased. See the article on our news page.

Stock market is up and down, more down than up recently. Not that I am a wealthy individual, but 401Ks and other types of savings tend to drop faster than they rise. … Whatever the cause, hopefully it will stabilize soon.

Hasn’t been that long ago when unemployment rate was high, folks were looking for a job, complaining about no industry. Now, industry officials are complaining about a lack of workers. … Good jobs are available in Bladen County and hopefully more are on the way. … Unemployment rate in the 5% range.

Many farmers have gathered their corn crop … production down due to dry weather in the spring. Peanuts are being harvested now and cotton is next. My guess is this is a good year to have crop insurance … especially for corn growers.

Happy I ‘flushed’ my system of politics, years ago. It’s a different world … both parties. Need a huge tent over DC, maybe 3 tents … like 3 ring circus.

Locally, good football weather. Bladen County high school football teams are not enjoying one of their better seasons, but, still time to ‘turn it around.’

It’s a good day to enjoy fish and Shriners in Bladenboro and Elizabethtown have plates for sale today. Proceeds benefit projects such as Shriner’s Children hospitals.

Weather forecast. … Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. No rain expected over the next 7 days. … I agree … much needed.

Some folks walk in the rain, others had rather jump in the puddles.

Sometimes YOU win, Sometimes YOU lose, Sometimes it RAINS.

Some people run from the rain, but sit in bathtubs full of water.
