Thoughts While ShavingLabor Day weekend begins on the wild side with lots of rain and wind, but Sunday and Monday should be good.

Rainfall amounts for today, tonight and early Saturday could be in the range of 6 inches or more with winds topping out in the low 30s with gusts up to 48 MPH.  Keep in mind, all is the best estimate of the National Weather Service.

May be a good day to stay close home, and begin moving around later Saturday.  The forecast for Sunday and Labor Day is for nice weather, sunny with temps in the mid 80s.

Plan accordingly.

Bladen County schools will close early today, check with individual schools for details.

Check our Sports page for details on high school football scores.  East Bladen defeated St. Pauls last night and, West Bladen lost to Whiteville.

For newcomers to the area, hurricanes are not uncommon.

Be aware of downed trees and damage to utilities.

Over the years, Labor Day was kinda the beginning of the home stretch for political candidates.  This year, think the season began at a furious pace and hasn’t slowed.

Check out GOFUNDME.COM on Facebook for area residents who are attempting to assist the Mandujano family who lost two members of their family in the recent wreck on US 701, north of Elizabethtown.  Sad situation, mom and one of three children were killed in a 4-vehicle wreck, apparently caused by a drunk driver.  They need help.
