Thoughts While Shaving For September 11

Spread the love

Spent last night tossin’ & turnin’. Frustrated at the world around us … How our distinguished leaders and our political parties are busy taking care of their political future, they seem to forget about the lowly, tax paying everyday folks … I also thought about how local civic minded folks worked constantly, years ago for the betterment of our neighbors, many times the less fortunate…

Today, the civic organizations are few and far between … No Jaycees, no Civitans, no Lions, no Optimist, no Ruritans … maybe a few still meeting … I am convinced civic organizations were good … crossed political lines, assisted in taking care of the needy in our communities, for the most part…

Today, we leave to political parties who are busy trying to hold on, and climb to the next level … The left and the right are more interested in holding on to their positions than helping those they serve … often pitting the less fortunate against their family, friends and neighbors … divide and conquer…

I remember years ago when some disease was very active … members of the Jaycees assisted medical folks in this county on Sunday afternoon … one of our older, local doctors donated his time, several nurses donated their time at a school in one of our communities and our Jaycee club was ask to assist … so I was there. Local folks came, received their shot … for the life of me, can’t remember the disease … No fussing, no fighting, all working together for the good of the community … and county.

My, my how things have changed … We have a problem, people are sick and dying and we can’t agree on anything … Leaders are not leading, posturing, looking out for themselves … The right says this, the left says something different … What a pity … It all plays out on TV…

Tossed and tumbled all night … got it off my chest … sorry … but the truth as I see it from my corner of the world. We are too busy to do honorable civic type work … leave it for others … me included…

58 degrees at 5:30 a.m. Sunny today, with a high near 86. Clear tonight with a low around 61. Sunny Sunday, high near 89 … Enjoy…
