Thursday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 83 … 40% chance of precipitation…
Beginning Friday and continuing thru early next week … Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s … Nice … Football weather…
As a youngster, it was time to gather the balance of the crop … corn, peanuts, cotton … and tobacco…
I think often of the time of year … hot dog roast … maybe a few marshmallows at a church party … Sunday School class get-to-gether…
High school football, homework … and, later, making sure there was dry wood and splinters for the fireplace or the heater…
As we grow older, we forget … It was not easy, but not bad … Wonder where old so-and-so is now … moved on years ago … haven’t heard from them in years…
A real treat was a trip to the tobacco market … and, later, to the Clarkton Tobacco Festival … spend the night in a warehouse … Lots of memories…
Get married, have a family … look forward to the children and grandchildren coming for Sunday lunch and some time to catch-up on the news…
