Yesterday’s high temp was 85 degrees … Occurred about 3:30 p.m. … Heat index … 88 degrees. Thank goodness … NO rain. Overnight low temp … mid 60s…

Patchy fog before 9 a.m. today. Otherwise, mostly sunny with a high near 84. Mostly clear tonight with a low around 64…

Saturday … Sunny with a high near 85 … great weather for a festival … Peanut festival in Dublin. Mostly clear Saturday night … low temp around 64. Sunday, sunny with a high near 85 … Something else to be thankful for.

From the Did You Know or Remember department … 35 years ago today we were dealing with Hurricane Hugo … Across a broad area, 86 fatalities and between $8 to $10 billion in damages.

Had an occasion to spend some time in the ‘Boro recently … renewed a few old acquaintances. Alway good to be back home again…

Bladen County population as of 2022 … 29,446, give or take a few.

I watched Jerome Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, announcing results of their recent board meeting … reduced the interest rate by 1/2 percent … He is always so well prepared…

Anyone else remember Miss Nellie’s restaurant in Elizabethtown … Actually located about where Hardee’s is today … Good home cooked meals … must have been in the early to mid 60s. And to the dirty, greasy, nasty, hungry … could eat on the back porch…

About the same time the late Charlie Regan was coaching the Elizabethtown High School football team to a conference championship…

Water is still high in local rivers and streams … 5, 6, 7 inches in some areas of the county earlier this week … but nothing like the rainfall along the New Hanover beach area and Brunswick coastal areas, especially in and around Southport…

Not sure why I remember, but as a youngster, long long ago … I recall a rain … near Bladenboro … All our tobacco, all 3 acres, drowned in an overnight rain…

Just kinda thinking out loud…
