WintryMixFriFeb12Folks across Bladen County could see one more round of winter courtesy of a low pressure system that will pass near our area on Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service Office in Wilmington.

Meteorologist Donald Hawkins said, “A low pressure area will move to the south of the region early Friday morning and shift quickly northeast of our area by late in the day. With cold air in place there is a threat of a wintry mix Friday morning with little or no accumulation expected. Also, this weekend very cold Arctic high pressure will settle over the area with the coldest temperatures of the winter expected.”

Precipitation will likely begin as rain mixed with snow with little or no accumulation expected, said Hawkins. Areas north of a line from Darlington to Whiteville could see  rain mix with freezing rain with little or no accumulation expected.  As temperatures, warm through the day, the threat of freezing rain will diminish.
