Three East Bladen cheerleaders –Blair Potter, Janae Wright and Hannah Wheeless – were named All-American Cheerleaders this week during the Edge Cheer and Dance Camp that was conducted at East Bladen by instructors from North Carolina State University.

East Bladen Cheerleader Coach Brandy Wilkins shared that this is the first time that East Bladen has hosted the Edge Camp. The instructors taught the East Bladen varsity and jayvee squads different routines during the 2-day camp.

According to Edge Cheer and Dance, the All-American program gives cheerleaders a way to stand out from the rest and less than 10% of campers across the nation are chosen for All-American. To qualify, cheerleaders must have all the qualities of an all-around great cheerleader.

The judges who were the N. C. State instructors look at their skills which range from jumps and motion to dance and leadership.

For being selected as All-American, these girls receive a medallion, a patch and a certificate as well as the opportunity to participate in the Citrus Bowl halftime show in January in Orlando, FL.

“I am proud of these girls who were chosen for the All-American team!” said Coach Wilkins.
