ELIZABETHTOWN- Two East Bladen doubles teams and West Bladen’s top singles player finished the opening day of the Three Rivers Conference Class 2A tennis tournament at East Bladen undefeated.

West Bladen’s Jose Osorio received a first round bye as the tourney’s No. 2 seed then defeated South Columbus’ Juan Frank 6-3, 6-3 in the second round and will play Whiteville’s Andrew Cahn in Tuesday’s third round.

The East Bladen doubles team of Jay McGill and Jake Evans received a first round bye as the tourney’s No. 2 seed then defeated Red Springs’ Martinez and Alvarado 6-1, 6-2 in the second round. The McGill/Evans team will play Whiteville’s Kronnenwetter/ Wright team in Tuesday’s third round.

Another East Bladen doubles team composed of Jackson Bostic and Will Hester defeated South Columbus’ Blasser and Wright 6-2 and 6-4 in the opening round. The Bostic/Hester team defeated West Bladen’s Victor Arellano and Logan Lewis 6-0 and 6-3 in the second round. Bostic and Hester will play the tourney’s top seeded team of Hester and Floyd of Whiteville Tuesday.

Lewis and Arellano are still alive in the tournament and will play the Fairmont team of Perez and Hawkins Tuesday.

In other singles play, West Bladen’s Eduardo Carranza defeated East Bladen’s Colin Hill 7-5, 6-1 in the opening round. Carranza then lost to Whiteville’s Cahn in the second round 6-0, 6-1. Carranza will play South Columbus’ Frank Tuesday.

East Bladen’s Garrett Melvin lost to Red Springs’ Jose Alejandro 7-5, 6-2 in the opening round.

Play will continue Tuesday at 12 noon at East Bladen.
