ELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen blitzed West Columbus with a 33-4 first quarter blitz en route to a 67-33 victory in the opening round of the Three Rivers Conference girls basketball tournament.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles, the TRC regular-season champions, raised their record to 24-1 on the season and will play West Bladen Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the tourney semi-finals at Fairmont.

Senior Erica McKoy pumped in 18 points to lead the East Bladen attack. Junior Patience Ward tossed in 15 points and scored the 1,000th point of her Lady Eagle career.

Senior Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson finished with 11 points for the winners. Senior Ashley Hardin threw in 8 points, and freshman Maya McDonald tallied 6 points.

Haley Brown led West Columbus with 10 points, and Tah’nijah McKoy followed with 9 points.
