Here are Three Things to Know for Friday, February 21:
1. Bladen County Schools are closed today because of the weather and the uncertainty of being able to safely transport students. March 13 will be a makeup day.
2. The Three Rivers Conference boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament has been cancelled. The tournament had to be completed by Saturday ahead of Sunday’s release of state playoff pairings. However, there was still a boys’ and girls’ semfinal game remaining to be played and the two championship games. With some school systems closed Friday, the tournament could not be completed in time.
3. The West Bladen girls basketball team will play Whiteville on Saturday at 1 p.m. at East Columbus High School. The game is being played to break a tie for third place in the regular season standings and will affect state playoff seeding.
