Here are Three Things to Know for Sunday, February 23:
1. Today is the final Sunday for early voting for the March 3 primary. Three voting sites will be open from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. for registered voters to cast ballots. Voting sites are at the Board of Elections office in Elizabethtown, East Arcadia Town Hall and Spaulding Monroe in Bladenboro. (READ MORE)
2. The N.C. High School Athletic Association will release state basketball playoff pairings today. The East Bladen girls are assured a spot. The West Bladen girls are considered “on the bubble.” The Knights beat Whiteville on Saturday to break a tie for third place with the Wolfpack and will find out if that was enough to get them into the tournament.
3. Jones Lake State Park is offering a “Slippery Salamanders” program Sunday at 2 p.m. to learn about the secret, slimy and adorable salamanders. There will be live salamanders for viewing and hands-on identification. The event is free and open to the public. Information: 910-588-4550.
