Here are three things to know for Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020.
1. The Bladen County Recreation Department’s youth basketball leagues will being play Tuesday at the King Street gym in Elizabethtown. The Lakers will play the Knicks at 6:45 in the ages 10-to-12 boys’ season-opener. There also are leagues for ages 7-to-9, girls ages 10-to-12 and Future Stars.
2. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will conduct a public hearing Tuesday on proposed changes for the wildlife, fisheries and game land rules. The meeting will be held in the Bladen Community College auditorium beginning at 7 p.m.
3. Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown will have its annual oyster roast Thursday. There are two seatings — 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. $50 per person. Also serving boiled shrimp, clam chowder and hushpuppies. Proceeds go to Methodist Men Projects.
