Here are Three Things to Know for Wednesday, October 7:
1. Roger’s Wish is accepting donations of blankets and sleeping bags at the Bladen County Library, Bladen Journal and Elizabethtown ABC store through the end of October. Items will be distributed to the homeless and needy on Nov. 6. (READ MORE)
2. The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit is conducting a training exercise through Oct. 15 with some of the training being held in Elizabethtown. The public can expect to possibly see or hear the following: military aircraft overflying the area, a limited number of military vehicles in the area, and role players (Marines) in Middle Eastern attire at selected sites. 3. Lower Cape Fear LifeCare has scheduled multi-week, no-cost virtual grief workshop for people coping with the death of an adult child each Tuesday beginning Oct. 20. Pre-registration is required; to register, email Melinda.McKeon@LifeCare.org with your name, address, phone number, and the name and date of the program you wish to attend. You may also call 910-796-7991 and leave a message with the same information. A grief counselor will contact you.
