Bladen County SportsWhite Lake was crowded this past weekend with runners, swimmers and bikers. For the first time ever three triathlons were held over a two day period at the lake.
All of the events were headquartered at the FFA Camp. A total of 772 athletes participated.
On Saturday at 7 a.m. the White Lake Fall Half 2015 took place with 160 participants. This event was a 1.3 mile swim, a 56 mile bike and a 13K run. The men’s winner, with a time of 4:24:47, was Seth Long of Raleigh. The women’s winner was 47 year old Tanya Houghton of Weddington with a time of 5:00:44.
At 8:30 a.m. the White Lake Fall International 2015  was held with 335 athletes. This event was a 1500 meter swim, 45K bike and a 10K run. The men’s winner, with a time of 2:15:56, was Kory Gray of Cary. The women’s winner, with a time of 2:34:56, was Kathryn Stolp of Wilmington, Georgia.
The final event of the weekend took place Sunday morning at 8 a.m. It was the White Lake Fall Sprint 2015 with 277 athletes. This event was a 750 meter swim, 14 mile bike and 5K run. The men’s winner, with a time of 1:05:24, was Tim Nichols of Cary. The women’s winner, with a time of 1:17:35, was Carrie Andrews of Matthews.
