A three vehicle crash involving two transfer trucks and a pick-up truck at the intersection of NC 41 West and NC 131 closed the roadway to traffic for a brief period of time.

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper A. M. Russ said Dewitt Demery from South Carolina, driving for Anderson Oil Company of South Carolina was charged with failure to yield right of way.  He was carrying a load of gasoline.

Ernie Maynor of Maxton was driving a grain truck  for Maynor Farms and was traveling on N.C. 41 toward Elizabethtown when Demery’s truck turned left in front of him. The collision caused Maynor’s truck to hit the Ford pickup being driven by James Stealy. Maynor’s truck was not carrying a load at the time of the accident.

James Stealy and Tammy Foster, both from Tennessee were in the Ford truck. They were returning from Myrtle Beach and were stopped on NC 131 waiting on traffic when Maynor’s truck collided with their Ford pickup after Maynor tried to avoid a collision with Demery’s truck, which had turned in front of Maynor’s.

All injuries were reported to be minor. The NC Highway Patrol, Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, Bladen County EMS, Dublin Fire Department, Elizabethtown Fire Department, and Bladenboro Fire Department all responded to the scene.
