An early morning crash on NC 41 East near Mote Fields Road in Bladen County claimed the life of a Fairmont man. The crash, which occurred at about 7 am, led to the closing of N.C. 41 for several hours.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Anderson, a pick-up truck owned by Sanderson Farms was being driven eastbound on NC 41 by Tyler Barnes, 22, of Fairmont. According to Trooper Anderson, Barnes’ vehicle crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle driven westbound on NC 41 by Samuel Beck of St. Pauls. The vehicle being operated by Beck is also owned by Sanderson Farms.
There were no passengers in either vehicle. Trooper Anderson said it is not known what caused Barnes to cross the centerline.
