“I have two very distinct memories with my father. One was watching Walter Cronkite, and the other was watching Billy Graham on the living room floor as he spoke the Word of God. The legacy Reverend Graham left behind will live on for generations, and I am proud to be the Senator from North Carolina where he was born and resided,” said Senator Tillis. “I look forward to celebrating his life and the work he did to change the lives of millions of people around the world by preaching the Word of God, and I want to thank the entire Graham family for allowing us to be a part of this day.”
“Martin Luther King, Jr. said, ‘Had it not been for the ministry of my good friend, Dr. Billy Graham, my work in the Civil Rights Movement would not have been as successful as it has been.’ The country mourns the loss of Dr. Graham, but the country understands the impact of his life, that life as a servant of God to preach his Word to everyone he could find,” said Senator Burr. “He exhausted the opportunities that were given to him and proudly affects generations that have yet to be born by the work that he did as a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
