CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) hosted his 25th telephone town hall, events where he has talked to North Carolinians in all 100 counties and has answered 285 questions about protecting the physical and economic health of our state and nation.

“Hosting telephone town halls nearly every day during the COVID-19 crisis has given me the opportunity to directly hear from North Carolinians about the personal challenges facing their families and communities,” said Senator Tillis. “I’ve learned a lot listening to North Carolinians and I look forward to talking to many more. I’ll continue to do my part to make sure everyone has access to helpful information and resources, and I’ll keep working across the aisle on bipartisan solutions to get us through this crisis and provide families and small businesses with the assistance they need as we begin to safely re-open our economy and get North Carolinians back to work.”

Top issues over the last week:

>Re-opening the economy in North Carolina, with a diverse range of views on how and when, with a majority calling for a staggered re-opening after North Carolina hits the peak of the curve in a way that balances the health and economic well-being of counties and the state.

>Stimulus checks, particularly questions regarding eligibility and timing on when the direct deposits and physical checks will be sent.

>Social distancing guidelines, with North Carolinians expressing concern after observing others in public places not practicing social distancing guidelines or not wearing masks or face coverings to help reduce the spread of the virus.

Senator Tillis will continue to hold regular telephone town halls with North Carolinians in the coming days and weeks, including another call tomorrow at 10:30am.
