united way 5KIt is time once again for the United Way’s 2nd annual Crazy Fun 5K Color Run, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. at the Elizabethtown Industrial Park. All proceeds go to benefit the United Way.

Event entry fees are $20 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Packet pick-up will take place beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the event site. Participants are asked to wear either a white T-shirt or the event T-shirt.

“All the money benefits people who really need it,” Bob Mundy.

The deadline for sponsorships is Friday, September 30. The sponsorship levels are  $1,000 Platinum Sponsor;$ 500 Gold Sponsor; $250  Silver Sponsor; and $100 Bronze Sponsor. Mundy said that sponsorships for the race are tax deductible. 

“The money goes to United Way of Bladen County and it is spent in Bladen County,” said Mundy.

Those race participants who enter by Friday, Sept. 30, will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Those who register for the race after Sept. 30, are not guaranteed a T-shirt.

“It will be real exciting this year,” said Mundy of the race.

Cape Fear vineyard and Winery is a major sponsor fo the event this year, said Mundy. He said the race will begin at the front entrance of the winery, travel through the industrial park, and end at the rear entrance to the winery. He said the winery is also planning to offer food at the finish line.

“We’re really excited about the winery providing food this year,” said Mundy.

To enter the event, you can print out, complete and return the  race registration form or you can register online  by going to active.com. Mundy also said there is same day registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. on race day.
