Todd Pait Resigns as West Bladen Football Coach

Todd Pait has resigned as head football coach at West Bladen after one season at the helm of Knights. The resignation will be effective with the end of the current school year.

Coach Pait cited family issues as the reason for his resignation and will be returning to Tennessee with his family. He has accepted the job as defensive co-ordinator for Northeast High School in Clarksville, TN for next season.

In his letter Pait praised the West Bladen administration and shared his deep feelings for the school.

Coach Todd Pait Letter of Resignation

In March of last year, I was selected to be the eighth football coach in West Bladen’s history. It was a dream job for me and I was ecstatic to get back to my hometown and get started.

Despite my excitement I was also a little apprehensive. People told me what I could expect and I had memories of West Bladen from when I worked there before that were less than perfect to say the least.

I knew it would be challenging, especially for a first year head coach, but what I discovered upon my arrival was an amazing school full of superb educators and outstanding young men and women. Every day I have had the opportunity to work with these outstanding people has been a pleasure. The administration is the best I have ever worked with, the teachers are compassionate and caring and the students are exceptional in every sense of the word.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to resign from my position as head football coach due to unforeseen and personal family circumstances. The only reason that I would ever leave my West Bladen family and my community for a second time is for my children’s sake. I wanted to bring them to Bladen County and give them the same kind of amazing upbringing that I enjoyed here but unfortunately that will not be the case.

While I will no longer be serving as the head football coach, I will always be a West Bladen Knight. I will always bleed purple, black and silver no matter where my future takes me. I want to thank all my coaches and players for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty during my time here.

I can promise you that the administration will find the perfect candidate for the job and I will do everything in my power to ease the transition in the months to come. I know there is success in the future at West Bladen and it breaks my heart that I will not be a part of it. Thank you administration, board members, and community for the amazing opportunity. Go Knights!
