East Bladen High SchoolWest Bladen High School LogoUndefeated East Bladen, the No. 1 Class 2-A girls’ team in the state, host county rival West Bladen Wednesday night in Four County Conference basketball.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles, 6-0 in league play and 16-0 overall, remain atop NC Preps.com’s Class 2-A rankings that were released today.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights reside in third place in the Four County with a 4-1 record and are 7-7 overall.

Junior Lacey Suggs keys the potent East Bladen offense that outscores opponents by an average of 54-27 points per game. Suggs scores at a 20.7 points per game clip and also contributes 5.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and a team-high 6.8 steals per game.

Senior center Imani Turner-Dobson anchors the Lady Eagle interior with 9.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.5 blocks per game.  Senior Abbey Norris adds 5.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.

Junior Christiana Cromartie stuffs the stat sheet with 5.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals, while junior point guard Abby Ward directs the Lady Eagle offense and tallies 7.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 4.4 steals per game.

The Lady Eagles own victories over a trio of Class 4-A opponents who have a combined record of 32-11 in their other games. Those wins were 41-33 over 12-4 Jack Britt, 39-33 over 9-6 Wilmington Ashley, and 46-35 over 11-4 Lumberton.

West Bladen has a win over 4-A Purnell Swett, two wins over St. Pauls, and has won 4 of 5 league games losing only to Clinton 46-33.

Senior center Breanna Jackson leads the Lady Knights on the boards with 8.7 rebounds per game and chips in with 5.6 ppg.  Sophomore Akira Grimes is West Bladen’s top scorer with a 6.6 ppg average and adds 6.5 rebounds.

Senior guard Miriam Mendoza contributes 5.4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists per game.  Senior forward Delasia Richardson has been a force on the boards in recent games and averages 6 rebounds per contest.

Sophmore Laikyn Pait scores 5.1 points and collects 3.2 rebounds per game.  Sophomore guards Logan Autry (4ppg and 3 rpg) and Alanna Ludlum (3 ppg and 3 rpg) supply back-court help.
