Road To Elwell Ferry

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission reopened six boat access areas along the Cape Fear and Lumber rivers, including two in Bladen County, on Friday. The sites had been closed since late December because of high water conditions.

The Commission reopened the Tory Hole access area in Elizabethtown and the Elwells Ferry access area near Carver’s Creek, it was announced.

The agency also reopened some game lands in Bladen County that had been closed because of high water. They are the river end of Whitehall Road in Whitehall Plantation Game Land, Camp Road on Whitehall Plantation Game Land from about 1/4 mile to the Cape Fear River, and Lake Road, just past the dam; and Sandridge Road and Loop Road on Suggs Mill Pond Game Land in Bladen and Cumberland counties.

Other boat access areas reopened Friday by the Commission were: Fayetteville (Old 87) in Cumberland County, McNeils Ridge in Robeson County, High Hill in Robeson County, and Lennons Bridge in Robeson County.
