The organizers of the Bladen County Education Foundation 6th Annual Jail-a-thon fundraiser, which was held back in April of this year, have tallied up the funds they received from their efforts. According to Attorney David Wall, also known as the “Judge” during the fundraising event, the total funds raised were $5,100. Wall said, “That’s the best we have ever done. Thanks to everyone who participated making this such a successful fundraiser for Bladen County Public Education.”

During the annual Jail-a-thon David Wall, a local lawyer in Elizabethtown, acted as the “Judge” handing out orders for arrest for “law-breakers” to post “bond”. Valerie Newton with the Board of Education assisted Wall by posing as the “Clerk of Courts”, making sure officers knew who to “arrest”. The Bladen County Sheriff’s Department, Elizabethtown and White Lake Police Departments helped collect the “perpetrators” and their donations.

The fundraiser was a group effort from many willing participates in Bladen County. If you missed the fundraiser, but would still like to support the Bladen County Education Foundation, please send your donations in to, Bladen County Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 72, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
