SHALLOTTE – Richmond County slugged four home runs and senior Greyson Way pitched a one-hitter as the Lady Raiders defeated East Bladen 18-0 Tuesday in the second round of the Touchstone Energy Diamond Beach Softball Invitational Tournament.

Way struck out 8 and walked one in her 5-inning complete game. Way and senior Taylor Parrish walloped solo home runs for the Lady Raiders. Junior Kayla Hawkins hammered a 2-run homer, and sophmore Payton Chappell blasted a grand-slam home run in the second inning for the first four Richmond runs.

Hawkins finished 3-3 at the plate with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Way was 3-4 with a homer, a double and 2 rbi’s. Teammate Savannah Lampley batted 3-4 with an rbi, and Parrish finished 2-3 with a double, a home run, 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Paige Ransom batted 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an rbi.

Junior Abbie Cross cracked a fifth inning single for the only East Bladen hit. Sophmore Kayleigh Raynor pitched the first 1.1 innings and, sophmore Jordan Kinlaw worked the final 2.2 innings in relief.

East Bladen will play Northwest Guilford in a third round game at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
