The TOWN OF ELIZABETHTOWN, had a discharge of untreated wastewater from our collection system lift station located at 107 S. Lower St. of approximately 28,000 gallons.

The discharge occurred on October 8th 2016 for approximately 12 hours during Hurricane Matthew. The untreated wastewater entered into the Jailhouse Branch that discharges into Brown’s Creek in the Cape Fear River Basin, due to the inclement weather and 13.2 inches of rain.  The Town employees worked continuously to maintain the collections system, pump station pumps, generators, and treatment plant with its pumps and generator to lessen the impact on its citizens and the environment.
