The White Lake Board of Commissioner’s met in regular session Tuesday evening.  The Town was selected to receive energy-efficiency improvements at substantial savings through Duke Energy Progress’s Small business Energy Saver Program.  The program offers a free, no-obligation energy audit; specific energy-saving recommendations, coverage for up to 80 percent of all materials and installation costs and convenient installation scheduled around the Town’s daily hours of operations. Duke Energy Progress chose Lime Energy as the approved contractor for this program.  Keith Holsapple, a representative for Lime Energy was on site on August 12, 2015 to conduct the audit and provided recommendations to replace existing light fixtures with LED lights in the fire department, police department and public works department.  Total cost to replace the existing lights is $7,706.80.  Duke Progress Energy will pay $6,022.48 directly to Lime Energy.  The Town’s cost for the project is $1,684.32.  The Town would see a savings of $8,013.00 over a 3 year period by converting the existing lights to LED lights.  The Board to approved the agreement between Duke Energy Progress and Lime Energy to convert the existing lighting to LED in the fire department, police department and public works department.

In other administrative matters, the Board approved Utility Releases ($1,451.23); and appointed Mayor Womble to serve as the Town’s voting delegate and Town Clerk Brenda Clark to serve as the alternate voting delegate at the NCLM Annual Conference.

Jennifer Song, State Demographer with the Office of State Budget and Management certified that the permanent resident population for White Lake is 846 as of July 01, 2015 compared to 838 of the previous year.

The NCDOT Fall 2015 Litter Sweep is scheduled for September 19 through October 3, 2015.

Governor Pat McCrory proclaimed September as North Carolina Preparedness Month to encourage North Carolinians to prepare and be prepared for all types of emergencies.  The NC League of Municipalities developed the www.ReadyNCLocal.org website, which is devoted to helping North Carolina municipalities prepare for and recover from disasters of any kind.
