During the December 29, 2020 adjourned meeting, the White Lake Board of Commissioners voted to offer the Town Administrator position to Sean Martin. During Tuesday evening’s Zoom meeting, the hiring committee (Mayor Goldston Womble, Commissioner Dean Hilton and Commissioner Paul Evans) met with Mr. Martin to negotiate a contract, which will be discussed during the Closed session Tuesday night.

A monthly report by Dr. Diane Lauritsen was provided on the White Lake “Lake” Water Management project. The full report is posted on https://whitelakewatch.com/. The report includes a snapshot of basic information about the lake. In addition, a draft stormwater ordinance was presented for the Board’s consideration.

A progress update for the Sanitary Sewer improvement project was provided by Brian Cox with Engineering Services. The updates are posted on the Town’s website and White Lake Watch website. Due to the wet weather in December, the contractor’s schedule has been delayed. The contractor will continue the replacement of the water mains on Fayetteville Street. Bladen Street and Wilson Streets during the month of January. Sewer replacement work will begin on those streets during the first part of February. The work will take approximately 3 to 4 months to complete.

In other administrative matters, the Board approved December Utility Releases ($1,385.29), Tax Releases ($504.45), and Tax Refunds ($62.43); appointed FY 21/22 Budget Officer (Mayor Womble) and Budget Committee (Board of Commissioners) and approved the Budget Calendar/Activities; approved Southern Software Agreement for FY 21/22; approved Short Form Agreement between Owner and Engineer for Professional Services for Phase III of Multi-Use Path; approved several budget ordinance amendments for the General Fund and the Wastewater Fund; approved extending Emergency Paid Sick Leave policy (due to COVID-19) through June 30, 2021; and adopted an ordinance amending Public Works fees in accordance with the Town’s financial revenue control system.

The municipal complex will be closed Monday, January 18, 2021 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. The on-call person will be available in case of water/sewer emergencies.

Meeting was adjourned to Closed Session to discuss personnel.
