FAIRMONT – West Bladen came within a single stroke of ending South Columbus’ six-match winning streak in Three Rivers Conference golf action Monday at Fairmont Golf Club, but the Stallions prevailed 365-366.

West Bladen’s Wyatt Bordeaux and Chad Garner both carded 88’s to finish tied for third in the individual competition behind medalist Caleb Click (85) and Landon Rising (87) of South Columbus.

Devin Smith fired a 93 for the Knights to finish in a 3-way tie for seventh place. Teammate John Brust shot a 97 and Jared Storms had a 116 for West Bladen.

East Bladen’s Eagles finished third in the team competition with a 412 that was their best score of the season. Alexander Avellaende led the Eagles with a 95 that placed him tenth in the individual scoring.

Nick Norris was right behind Avellaende on the Eagle scoring list with a 97. Jayson Baxter carded a 104, and Chance Hester shot a 116.

West Columbus and Whiteville tied for fourth place with 435 totals followed by Red Springs (457) and St. Pauls (462).

Fairmont only brought three golfers and South Robeson only brought two so neither team could compete in the team competition.

The next Three Rivers match will be Monday at the Vineyard at White Lake.
