Tubs of Love Sent to Ocracoke Island

Kathy McGurgan, Bladen Community College Director of Evening Programs, is greeted by Beaufort Community College President, Dave Loope, as he extended appreciation for the delivery of over 20 “Tubs of Love” of supplies for Ocracoke Island residents. Accompanying Ms. McGurgan in delivery of the tubs is Charles Young, a member of Bladen Community College’s maintenance team.

DUBLIN – Bladen Community College reaches out to its sister college, Beaufort Community College, to help others impacted by recent hurricanes with a special effort entitled “Tubs of Love.”

Donations of “Tubs of Love” were sent to Ocracoke Island. The tubs were filled to the brim with essentials for those still recovering in Ocracoke from Hurricane Dorian. The donations ranged from toilet paper, cleaning supplies, duct tape, and gloves.

Beaufort Community College student government leaders and their honor society Gamma Beta Phi started the supply fundraiser. Twenty-three other community colleges donated as well, like Bladen Community College, who brought more than 20 tubs to the Beaufort campus on Friday.

Bladen County suffered from the effects of several hurricanes and knows how important it is to return the favor. Bladen Community College’s contributions hope to lighten the load as Ocracoke Island residents continue to recover and scrub away the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian.

Bladen Community College students, staff, and faculty helped to decorate the tubs and donate the supplies that filled them. Our local Walmart, Dollar General and Big Blue of Elizabethtown donated to the effort.
