The Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest has a limited number of permits remaining for two special youth and adult deer hunts in October. The first is a three day black powder/archery hunt scheduled for Oct. 8 – 10, 2015. The second is a three day gun hunt scheduled for Oct. 22 – 24, 2015. Certain gun restrictions apply.

The cost is $5 per hunter and the deadline to purchase a permit is close of business, Oct. 2.

Permits can be purchased Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm by calling 1-888-248-6834.

The hunt party must consist of one youth less than 16 and one properly licensed adult who is at least 18 years of age. Both the youth and adult may hunt using the same permit. All hunting will take place at Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest, located at 4803 Sweet Home Church Road, Elizabethtown, North Carolina.

Those who purchase a permit must contact Turnbull Creek prior to Oct. 6 to obtain instructions for the hunt.

“All participants are provided guidance and assistance every step of the way,” said Chris Meggs, Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest Supervisor. “Youth and adults always have fun and learn and typically are successful on this hunt.”
