The N.C. Forest Service will be holding a free two-day landowner workshop to learn about the benefits of owning forestland. There will be multiple experts to help attendees learn about a variety of topics. The workshop will be held at Jones Lake State Park on Jan. 31st and Feb. 28th. Both days will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Jan. 31st workshop will cover: the benefits of forestland ownership, basics of selling timber, utilizing prescribed fire and a half-day field trip to a managed forest.

The Feb. 28th workshop will recap and finalize the Jan. 31st discussion, the history of longleaf pine forests and current restoration efforts, producing and selling pine straw and a half-day field trip to a forest managed for straw raking.
