Two of five men indicted Thursday for illegal reentry into the U.S. or on a weapon charge were found in counties that neighbor Bladen County.
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina Robert J. Higdon announced the charges in a news release.
Jose Gabriel Vallego-Hernandez, 51, of Mexico, was found in Columbus County. He has been charged with illegal and unlawful alien in possession of a firearm, according to the release.
Lidio Gomez-Gomez, 49, of Mexico, had been deported twice from the United States and recently was found in Sampson County, Higdon said. Gomez-Gomez has been charged with illegal reentry subsequent to a felony conviction (death by motor vehicle).
Also indicted for illegal reentry of a deported alien were Felix Antonio Juarez-Antunez, 35, of Honduras, Eduardo Aguilar-Arellano, 35, of Mexico, and Jose Centeo-Angel, 31, of Mexico. Juarez-Antunez and Centeo-Angel were found in Wake County. Aguilar-Arellano was found in Johnston County.
Gomez-Gomez, if convicted, faces maximum penalties of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and supervised probation upon release, according to Higdon’s office.
Juarez-Antunez, if convicted, faces maximum penalties of two years in prison, a $250,000 fine and supervised probation.
Aguilar-Arellano is alleged to have been previously removed from the U.S. because of a second-degree rape conviction and Centeo-Angel had been previously removed for an accessory after the fact to kidnapping conviction. If convicted, the maximum prison term would be 20 years with a fine of $250,000 and supervised probation.
The cases are being investigated by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations and Homeland Security Investigations.
