KANSAS CITY, MO – Former West Bladen star Tyre Boykin fired in 8 points in his college debut Wednesday night as his University of Missouri – Kansas City Kangaroos rolled past Culver-Stockton College 105-35 in their season opener.

With 2:49 left in the first half, a Boykin assist resulted in a Josiah Allick dunk. Moments later Boykin dropped in a lay-up for his first college basket 1:02 before halftime to give UMKC a 54-13 lead. The Roos led 57-15 at halftime.

The Tar Heel native drained a 3-point shot to push the lead to 80-21 with 13:57 left in the game. Boykin nailed a jumper at the 5:31 mark then grabbed a rebound and pitched an assist to teammate Jacob Johnson who nailed a 3-ball that padded the lead to 99-33. Boykin’s 8th point came on a free throw with 2:27 remaining.

The UMKC Roos will host Greenville University Friday at 4 p.m. in The Negro League Baseball Museum Tipoff Classic
