Bladen County Sheriff James A. McVicker announced several arrests that have occurred recently based on undercover work by the Narcotics Division and other arrests made in conjunction with North Carolina Probation and Parole officers.

*Anthony Porter, 47, of 1677 Maysville Lane, Tar Heel was arrested following a search of his residence by Sheriff’s Deputies and Probation Officers. The search revealed an indoor marijuana grow operation. Porter was charged with Manufacturing Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm by Felon and Probation Violation.

Porter’s bond was set at $2 million. This was his 109th criminal charge since the age of 16.

*A recent undercover narcotics buy operation resulted in the arrest of Christopher Deaver, 27, of 224 Luther Brisson Road, Bladenboro. Brisson was charged with Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver a Counterfeit Controlled Substance. Bond was set at $5,000.

Also arrested in the same operation was Anthony Holt, 50, of 719 East Main Street, Haw River, NC. Holt was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Crack Cocaine, Manufacture Crack Cocaine, Sell Cocaine, Deliver Cocaine. Holt’s bond was set at $30,000.

*Narcotics officers went to Apartment 27, in Oakdale Homes, Clarkton, to serve arrest warrants on Shannon Peterson, 28, of that residence. Investigators had warrants on her for Possession With Intent to Sell and Deliver Marijuana. Her bond was set at $4,000.

While at this residence, deputies located two individuals with outstanding warrants. Taquay Newkirk, 26 of 73 Mill Stream Drive, Whiteville, was found to be in possession of a stolen handgun from Wilmington. The weapon fell from his person when he began to resist officers. Newkirk was charged with Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine, Manufacture Cocaine. His bond was set at $50,000.

Also arrested for outstanding warrants was Erik Johnson, 24, of 91 Steve Lane, Elizabethtown. Johnson was charged with five counts of failure to appear in district court on traffic related charges. His bond was set at $10,000.
