A crash at the intersection of NC 11 and NC 87 claimed the lives of a 30-year-old mother and her 8-year-old daughter. The crash ocurred at 8:15 a.m.

According to reports, a red car was traveling west on NC 11 when the driver drove out in front of a tractor-trailer traveling north on NC 87. The tractor-trailer struck the car in its driver’s side and the car came to rest in the ditch.

According to reports, the woman’s 7-year-old son was also in the car and was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center by air ambulance. The driver of the tractor-trailer was also transported to the hospital.

The names of the crash victims were not available as next of kin were still being notified. We will continue to update this story as more details are released.
