The NC Department of Transportation has been working at various locations throughout Bladen County. The following is a list of current and anticipated road closings and openings.
Porter Road will remain closed through Tuesday of next week. NC DOT crews encountered some soils issues that caused the original schedule to falter.
US 701-Bus (Clarkton)
US 701-Bus in Clarkton remains closed at Graham Street due to utility construction (water line installation). The road should re-open Friday.
NC 131 South of Bladenboro
Beginning Wednesday, July 13, NC DOT plans to begin the first of three crossline replacements on NC 131 south of Bladenboro. Wednesday and Thursday’s location will be 0.57 miles north of the Columbus County Line. There will be a signed detour in effect to follow Arthur Collier Road in Columbus County to NC 410. The detour is expected to last through July 22.
Elwell Ferry
The river is again on the rise. The ferry remains closed and will probably remain closed into next week.
