The new Homestead Christian School is now accepting applications. The school’s location is 34 Third Street in Dublin, North Carolina.
HCS Board of Directors President Ivey King said, “We want to provide a small, safe learning environment. This year we are putting a cap on enrolling students. The cap is 30, and we are already halfway there.”
“Every community needs a good Christian school. We have a strong academic environment coupled with a focus on agriculture,” Mrs. Peggy Hester, the School Administrator, stated.
The HCA is registered with the North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education and the National Center for Life and Liberty. According to Hester, the HCS curriculum focuses on Christian education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), and Agriculture. The school educates students from Kindergarten through twelfth (12th) grade.
Abeka textbooks and teaching aids will be used in the classrooms, Hester explained; and there will be hands-on activities taught at the school. The students will cultivate a container garden at the school’s location, and the school’s partnership with 5K Arena will provide lessons in agriculture on a larger scale.
There is an application process for students, but Hester emphasized there are scholarship opportunities. Hester asserted the school is accepting applications for second and third-grade teachers and sixth to eighth-grade language and math teachers.
The first day of school is September 6, 2022. The schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Hester and Community Baptist Academy parents set out to organize Homestead Christian School after Community Baptist Academy closed its doors last year.
King addressed the school’s closure after 45 years, saying, “We are at a tipping point of cultural and spiritual warfare. What seemed so sad has turned out to be a great blessing.”
She continued addressing the changes, “I’ve never seen a path so clearly laid out by the Lord.”
Hester added, “We want to be a lighthouse. If people recognize that a small Christian school can be successful, others may want to start a school in their community.”
King agreed, “Yes, we would be happy to help others who want to start a Christian school in their area.”
HCS has a lease on the building in Dublin for a year, but their plans are growing.
“We are closing on over ten (10) acres of land in the vicinity of Dublin and Bladen Community College this week,” King announced, “We want to offer a place where students enjoy learning and can be excited about coming to school.”
Update- King said, “We are now accepting applications for late enrollments.”
