Work involves maintenance and repairs of wells, water meters, and chlorine dosing equipment, and maintaining sewer lift station pumps, lines, and motors.  The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, traffic hazards and atmospheric conditions.

Duties include, but are not limited to:  performing daily checks on various pumps, metering stations, wells, and lift stations; checking pump readings, chlorine readings, pH readings, chlorine cylinders, and cleaning lift station baskets; and monitoring generators and rain gauges and recording findings, as well as taking water samples.  Those with no maintenance or mechanical experience need not apply.

Graduation from high school or GED is required, as well as some experience in mechanical repair or utility work.  Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina with a safe driving record is a requirement.
