ELIZABETHTOWN – The 10th annual Bladen County Veteran’s Day Ceremony is planned for Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at the National Guard Armory in Elizabethtown.
The guest speaker for the program is Command Sgt. Major Annie L Walker. She is the Commandant Noncommissioned Officer Academy of the United States Army Soldier Support Institute of Fort Jackson SC.

Walker is a native of Elizabethtown and entered the US Army as finance specialist in 1986, according to the Soldier Support Institute website. She began her career by attending basic training at Fort Jackson, SC and then she completed advance individual training at Fort Benjamin in Harrison, IN.
Walker has a very distinguished military career including receiving the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal (6th award) among her many achievements, medals, awards and commendations.
According to the Soldier Support Institute she also is the recipient of the Nathan Towson Medallion (Leadership Award, ANCOC), is a member of the Sergeant Morales Club and an honorary member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.

Other highlights of the day will include a performance of the national anthem by Peyton Fell of the Clarkton School of Discovery followed by the placing of the wreath and recognition of veterans. The West Bladen High School band will also perform.
There will also be performances by the East Bladen High School JROTC Drill Team, Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy Cadet Drill Team, and the West Bladen High School Drill Team.
A tribute is planned for Dr. Robert Lee Summerlin Jr. who was a veteran of the US Navy.
